Introducing AMTA-Member Ben Stone of Lincoln, NE, one of this year’s Nebraska Chapter's IMPACT MAKERS.
Here's is the info you should know about Ben in his own words:
LMT years: 22 Years
AMTA years: 13 Years
Where do you practice: Lincoln, NE as solo practitioner
What Massage Modalities do you practice: I practice modalities that help with relief from chronic pain and injuries, like relief from low back pain.
How do you spend time outside of work: I have taken an interest in photography and videography for the last several years and have been teaching myself the art of photography. It has been a great learning experience and I have found lots of similarities in the world of massage and photography.
How do you promote the massage therapy profession in your community: I like to stay informed and involved with the Nebraska Massage Community. I often attend events that the AMTA hosts and have taught classes for the Local AMTA as well as CE classes in ethics and technique. I have worked to bring national educators to Nebraska, most recently Nate Fay who taught Erik Dalton’s Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques in Omaha. I can be found assisting Eric Stephenson every October for his annual visit to Nebraska and his “NO Thumbs Deep Tissue Workshop” weekend.
I have been slowly adding content to a YouTube channel for massage therapists called “Benji & The Massage”. I also have been producing a podcast for the past year and a half called “Ben & Nate’s Questions we ask Massage Therapists on the Internet”. We take questions about the massage industry and get feedback via facebook and then talk about those issues on our podcast.
Nebraska has a great massage community and I do my best to stay connected with as many massage therapists as possible. Feel free to reach out if we are not already connected somehow.
In what ways do you participate in your community: Facebook
Do you have any words of wisdom to share that have helped you in your career: I have learned so many things from so many different people and I feel that I can learn something new from anyone.
My two current favorite quotes are:
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better” - Maya Angelou
“The larger the island of knowledge, the longer the shoreline of wonder” - Ralph W. Sockman
