Hearing Dates for LB314 and LB497: taxation of massage therapy as a personal service.

Updated: Feb 9, 2019

***UPDATE*** (2/9/19) the start time of the hearings has been moved up to 12:30pm still on Thursday 2/14/19***

Hearing date of February 14, 2019 1:30 pm for both LB314 and LB487. Both of these bills propose taxing massage therapy as a personal service.

We are opposed to this bill because massage therapy is a healthcare profession and in Nebraska we do not tax healthcare. It is as simple as that.

I will give the only verbal testimony at the hearing, on behalf of AMTA-NE and any members able to attend and add their name to the testimony sheet. The more names and people in the seats, the bigger impact we will have.

If you are unable to make it, please write letters, make phone calls, and ask friends, family, clients, and other healthcare professionals to do the same. If you would like your letter included in testimony, please email it to as soon as possible, but no later than 5:00pm Tuesday Feb. 13, so we can print it off and hand it to the committee during the hearing.

RSVP below - whether you are able to make it or not - so we know who to expect.

Need help writing a letter? Here is a sample letter. (Please do not copy and paste, it lessens the impact if it is not personalized.)

More info can be found on our Government Relations page, including legislative contact info, call scripts, and letter rubrics.
