Legislative season is winding down and I wanted to update you on where we stand.
First off, legislation runs in two year cycles - long and short sessions.
Long session is in the odd year, short in even.
Bills introduced in long session are still "live" in the short session
All bills die at the end of the short session.

Tax bills
All bills that have moved forward have either
removed all language pertaining to massage therapy
have special language explicitly excluding massage therapy
Reflexology
did not make consent calendar
remains on general file
Mobile Massage Establishment
Advanced to Enrollment and Review for Engrossment - being prepared for final reading
It will become legal to have a mobile establishment and State Regulator Board can put together regulations to allow for licensure.
You have all been terrific this session - as you have for the last 3 years since this whole mess started! We truly have the most amazing members. You are the reason we have been so successful in educating law makers as to what massage therapy is, what it is not, and how important we are to the healthcare system.
We have a lot of work to do in the "off season" this fall. We are hoping to work on some more legislation to move massage therapy in Nebraska forward. We will keep you updated as we go.
