Introducing AMTA-Member Amanda Rawson of Lincoln, NE, one of this year’s Nebraska Chapter's IMPACT MAKERS.

Here's is the info you should know about Amanda in her own words:

Where do you practice: 

 Lincoln, NE   I’m Self employed at Rawson Recovery.  I rent a room in a gym and do contracted work with sports teams.

What Massage Modalities do you practice: SportStretch, cupping, cupping,sports massage

How do you spend time outside of work: 

I took up golf this summer and go to the simulator in the winter. It's been a lot of fun putting time and effort into getting better at golf. I also like spending time with friends and family, traveling and attending sporting events.

How do you promote the massage therapy profession in your community: 

I attend multiple Fleet Feet events every year, offering SportStretch with some soft tissue work. I volunteer at different massage events, such as the Lincoln Marathon. I have taught at the Lincoln Marathon and teach a SportStretch class. I have a massage therapy student doing an externship with me. I have worked at multiple other sporting events outside of the Lincoln area.

In what ways do you participate in your community:   

Outside of Massage ?? Not much.

Do you have any words of wisdom to share that have helped you in your career:   In the beginning I invested a lot of time and money into educating myself. Not only did I attend many CEs that interested me, but I sought out mentors who helped guide me along the way. 

I love learning and I go into every situation looking to gain a different perspective. It doesn't matter who the person is or the situation, we can learn something from everyone we meet. See everything as an opportunity to get better. 

Asking for help is huge. Massage can be a lonely profession, especially for those who are self-employed.

Ask for help in any area you want to get better in. Technique, rebooking, client experience, education and knowledge, financials, marketing, connections and opportunities, etc. 

Networking and building relationships will do a lot for you. We are in the relationship business! 

Share your dreams with others, you'd be surprised at the amount of people who want to help you reach them and you might inspire some people along the way.
